Henry Winkler, the popular comedian, spoke about upper limb spasticity and its treatment options in a recent interview.
Upper limb spasticity is a common problem among people who suffered from strokes or have problems in their brain or spinal cord. Winkler is familiar with the condition because her mother obtained the condition after suffering a stroke.
Recently, Winkler visited WakeMed Rehab Hospital in Raleigh as a representative of the Open Arms Campaign, which raises awareness about the condition.
WakeMed is making strides in treating upper limb spasticity with the help of Botox. The anti-wrinkle drug alleviates pain along the arm and the hand. Compared to other treatments, Botox causes less drowsiness and it can be targeted to specific muscle areas.
