In Buffalo, New York, public school teachers can get free plastic surgery—including Botox—care of the public school system.

The plastic surgeries are included in a teacher’s contract. The entire school district pays out for the operation, and it has a current cost of $5.2 million annually.

With its current costs, the tab for the operations can pay for more than 100 extra educators in the sector, raising the eyebrows of critics.

While the plastic surgery perk is controversial, the teacher’s union is not willing to give up the option.

Reports claim that the plastic surgery rider has existed for a long time, while getting little attention. During its early years, the perk was intended for reconstructive surgery only. However, as plastic surgery and cosmetic operations—like Botox—became popular, Buffalo teachers began getting these aesthetic upgrades for free.

According to reports, the teachers union is now willing to give up the perk in the next round of contract negotiations.
