New Jersey residents want tax-free Botox PDF Print E-mail

Apparently, the people of New Jersey want tax-free Botox injections.

Lawmakers recently forwarded a bill to Governor Chris Christie that removes the 6% tax on cosmetic surgery, which includes Botox, breast enhancements, and liposuction.

New Jersey is the only state that taxes cosmetic surgeries. Frugal patients head out to Pennsylvania and New York to get cosmetic work done.

The tax raises more than $10 million annually. That’s money that can be redirected to more important issues of the country.

Antagonists of the bill say this luxury tax should stay. They say that removing the tax shouldn’t be a top priority. They even claim that people who go for these operations could certainly afford them.

With major issues in healthcare, this bill proposition will definitely strike a debate.
