In a report from KPRC-TV, a man claimed that Botox helped him walk again.
Botox is typically known as an anti-wrinkle drug, but now numerous applications for the drug have been proven including limb spasticity.
“I get it in my chest, on my back, my arm and on my leg,” explained Javier Negrete, who was a car accident victim three years ago. He suffered a traumatic brain injury.
He underwent major therapy, but today, he is now able to walk again and stand alone.
“When I first heard about Botox, I thought it was only to reduce wrinkles,” explained Negrete. “But now I'm actually glad it is used for medical purposes.”
Doctors said that the whole left side of his body was basically tight from the arms down to his legs. Dr. Stephanie Sneed was Negrete’s medical practitioner since 2006, and the doctor says that Botox played a crucial role in Negrete’s recovery.
“What I admire about him is his patience with the process, because it's not a miracle drug. It is just a part of the whole rehabilitation process,” explained Sneed.
