The jury determined last Tuesday that Allergan was not responsible for the death of Kristen Spears, a 7-year-old girl who died of cerebral palsy after getting Botox injections.

Spears died due to respiratory failure and pneumonia in 2007. Her mother, Dee, sued Allergan for $60million. She said that Botox weakened her daughter’s muscles, eventually resulting to the young girl’s death.

The jury decided on a 10-2 vote that Botox was not responsible for Kristen’s death.

Botox is primarily known as an anti-wrinkle drug. However, some doctors use it to treat muscle spasms, a common symptom of cerebral palsy patients.

“So many other things could be faulted in her death,” explained David Reyes, a juror in the case.
