Botox is usually used to reduce wrinkles, but it’s now considered as a medical drug for a person’s feet.
Whenever there is damage in the brain or the spine, it can cause feet to contract, making it very difficult to walk. This is where Botox comes in. Doctors can use the drug to relax the contracted muscles on the feet, which allows them to brace or cast the feet.
Dr. Craig Morton says that by paralyzing one muscle or muscle group, the foot will be able to relax.
“It takes about two or three days from the initial injection into the spastic muscle to start to see results and about two weeks after the injections, we see a peak effect,” said Dr. Morton. “That can last about three months before slowly wearing off.”
According to medical practitioners, this will allow doctors to cure people with cerebral palsy.
