According to The Sun, Britons may have a new cure for hair loss—Botox injections.

While Botox is primarily known as an anti-wrinkle drug, scientists believe that it can also cause hair growth.
Reports describe that the treatment was accidentally discovered by an American plastic surgeon. Dr. Simon Ourian was trying to treat headaches suffered by his cancer victim patient after chemotherapy.

After injecting Botox to her scalp, Dr. Ourian was surprised to see hair growth.

Baldness is caused by shrinking hair follicles—that’s why new ones are no longer produced. When Botox is injected, it dilates the blood vessels, which allows the entry of nutrients to the hair shaft to stimulate growth.

Dr. Ourian has tested the treatment on volunteers at his Beverly Hills clinic. The treatment needs repeated injections, but it gave significant results after just one session.
