While the job market sags, Botox and other less-invasive cosmetic procedures are going up on the market.
According to a survey conducted by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, Minimally invasive cosmetic procedures, including Botox, were 73 percent more popular in the last quarter of 2008 compared to 2007.
“People are saying that they're not going to buy the 'it' purse, but the last thing they're going to give up is the stuff that makes them look good everyday,” asserted Dr. Tina Alster, a dermatologic surgeon from the Washington Institute of Dermatologic Laser Surgery.
While these procedures do not come cheap, it cost is relatively the same compared to buying a new suit. And compared to “under the knife” surgeries, these treatments are a lot cheaper. That is why liposuction, breast augmentation, and the like, are becoming less and less popular.
Recession, recovery, boom or bust: Botox is here to stay.
