Botox users and their relatives are saying that Allergan failed to warn them of the dangers of Botox. Currently, Allergan Botox is being linked to three deaths of patients who used the drug for none-FDA-approved purposes. Other patients, who used the drug as approved by the FDA, say the treatment has caused disabilities—including blurred vision, numbness, and difficulty breathing.
Last February, the FDA released a preliminary notice that associated the injections with serious side effects—including death. In fact, one of the three deaths in the lawsuit is a 7-year old boy from Texas who was treated with Botox for spasticity with cerebral palsy.
In response to the allegations, Allergan spokeswoman Caroline Van Hove told a newspaper that Botox has a “remarkable safety record.” Through out the span of 19 years and a million treatments, serious adverse effects have rarely been reported, claimed Van Hove.
