In Las Vegas, a doctor and his wife have been convicted for malpractice of Botox treatments. The couple used fake Botox to treat patients in their Las Vegas-based clinic.
Last Wednesday, federal jurors ruled against Dr. Stephen Lee Seldon and Deborah Martinez Seldon. The charges are mail fraud and adulterating a drug while held for sale.
Deborah Seldon was considered an accomplice to the crime, as she was Dr. Lee’s assistant at a New You cosmetic clinic. Prosecutors say patients thought they were getting Botox, but they were actually getting cheaper TRItox treatments. The government claimed that TRItox is still in the research stages, making it ineligible for human application.
With this conviction, the Seldons could face decades in prison. The official sentence will be released February next year.
