A new research conducted by Izabela Buraczewska confirms a relationship between the use of skin creams and drier skin. She will be defending her dissertation in Uppsala University, Sweden on October 24.
Buraczewska’s study focuses on the effects of skin creams, at the molecular level. Specifically, the study wanted to outline the negative and positive effects of skin creams on the skin.
The seven-week study suggests that some compound creams actually weaken the skin’s protective barrier. With this breakthrough knowledge, cosmetics manufacturers will be more wary of what ingredients to put in skin creams. This should impact the industry in a positive way.
“My findings show that creams differ and that knowledge of the effect of various ingredients is important for us to be able to tailor the treatment to various skin types,” said Buraczewska.
