Accusations are flying through the papers and on the Internet – Did Hillary Clinton receive Botox injections? Her fresh-faced appearance at a New England debate suggests that she may have had cosmetic work done to improve her appearance.
The FDA had only approved the use of Botox for treating certain disorders, so anyone receiving the injections for other reasons must sign a medical consent form.
Dr. Josh Duckworth, 39, has been using Botox for treating migraines with much success. Sherry Hatton, a clerk for the Morale, Welfare, and Recreation office, didn't hesitate to take Dr. Duckworth up on his offer. While other doctors just prescribed pills for Hatton, Sherry says of Dr. Duckworth, "He is very proactive. He wants to help me prevent migraines from occurring.
Dr Duckworth explains that Botox blocks messages that cause muscles to contract or pain to register in the brain. He claims it also helps pain associated with shingles.
Despite its obvious advantages, Botox has a rather intimidating origin. The chemical comes from a purified version of Clostridium botulinum – the bacterium that causes botulism.
Of course there are some side effect possible with Botox injections including muscle weakness. Also the body will develop antibodies to the chemical after a time.
And there's the cost to consider. Botox comes in vials priced at $485 each and some patients require two vials per treatment. The military will pay for it but other patients require pre-approval processes before treatment is authorized. Duckworth points out that it actually saves the military money that would otherwise go towards the several medications migraine patients are normally prescribed.
So, is Hilary using Botox or any other kind of cosmetic treatment? She is the only one that can answer that question.
