Youth-seekers have found new hope in the over-the-counter anti-age cosmeceuticals that boast actual active ingredients that can improve skin tone and appearance.   However sure to their categorization as cosmetics instead of medication, cosmeceuticals are not as thoroughly testing as they should be.

Popular active ingredients that have indeed been shown to improve wrinkles or facial tone are Retinal, Hydroxy acid, Coenzyme Q10 and Copper peptides.

The Mayo Clinic advises in their June issue of Women's Healthsource that the amount of active ingredients may not enough to make a substantial change in skin problems and that even the creams and lotions that work may take a great deal of time before change is noticeable.
